Librarian by title,
builder by habit

Hey there! I'm Evan.

Evan Fruehauf

I'm an Assistant Librarian at the University of South Florida Libraries, where I work as subject liaison to the Bellini College of AI, Cybersecurity, and Computing and the College of Engineering.

My day-to-day involves a mix of AI literacy instruction, building tools like LINK (an AI research chatbot in Copilot Studio), keeping up with the latest developments in AI for research methods, and helping students and researchers actually find what they're looking for.

Outside of work: running trails, obsessing over cooking and recreating takeout classics from scratch, homebrewing small-batch IPAs and meads, and collecting Pokémon TCG cards.

Home Build

New Construction

Manatee County, FL

Building a new home in Manatee County — or more accurately, watching my wife Tori build a new home in Manatee County while I hand her things and act helpful.

Homebrew · In Progress

Building a full homebrew campaign for Daggerheart — worldbuilding, custom NPCs, narrative arcs. Very much in progress, which is on-brand.

A cookbook that's been gestating longer than it should. Recipes from someone who cooks a lot and writes things down. Coming eventually. Probably.

Small-Batch Beer & Mead

Ongoing

Chasing the perfect hazy IPA and experimenting with small-batch meads. Current obsession: dialing in hop timing on a BIAB NE Hazy IPA with Mosaic and Galaxy hops.

Side Quests

🧱

Lego Building

Currently working through the Dune Ornithopter and the Flowering Cactus. The kind of focused, no-stakes hobby that pairs well with a podcast and a beverage.

🏒

Sports

Big Tampa Bay Lightning fan, big Bucs fan, casual Mercedes F1 fan. The order of priority depends entirely on what's in season.

🎹

Lo-Fi Production

Making lo-fi hip hop beats with an Arturia MiniLab 3 and GarageBand on an M4 MacBook Pro.

🏃

Running & Hiking

Ran the Publix Gasparilla 5K in February 2026 along Bayshore Boulevard. When not racing, hiking trails at Myakka River State Park — one of Florida's best kept secrets.

🐦

Bird Watching

Casual backyard birding via BirdBuddy smart feeder. Florida has surprisingly good birds once you start paying attention.

🐾

Volunteering

Volunteering at Nate's Honor Animal Rescue — because spending time with animals who need people is a pretty good use of a Saturday.
